I've known that I wanted to be a marine biologist ever since I was 14 years old and dreamed of being on ships to work to protect the ocean. But I struggled to find information on the ocean as I did have access to the web at the time. There are still struggles in finding the proper information on the ocean in today's society. Access to journal articles is behind paywalls for the most part and information disseminated on social media is often in small snippets and incomplete. Therefore, comprehensive and accessible materials about ocean education could provide more people with inspiration to help protect the ocean. In this episode, I will use the Massive Open Online Course, Sharks!, as an example to show how people who may not be scientists can use this knowledge to speak and live for a better ocean.
