In this episode of the How to Protect the Ocean podcast, host Angelo interviews Mark Zacharias, the Executive Director of Clean Energy Canada. The discussion centers around a rebuttal to an article published by the Fraser Institute, which claimed that renewable energy is going to be significantly more expensive than anticipated. Mark Zacharias addresses three main arguments presented in the Fraser Institute article:
Throughout the conversation, Mark emphasizes the importance of updated information and the need to move beyond outdated narratives about renewable energy. He advocates for a future where clean energy is not only viable but also economically advantageous, countering the misconceptions perpetuated by the Fraser Institute's article. Texas is in a State of Emergency due to a deep freeze event caused by Climate Change. Power outages have caused problems for many citizens in the state as they can't get access to heat and warm water. Now, politicians and media outlets on the right are putting the blame on the failure of renewable energy sources instead of telling the whole story. Find out why by listening to the episode. I was listening to an episode of a podcast called Oppo (it's a Canadian political podcast that I listen to on a regular basis), where the main topic was on Nuclear Energy. The conversation quickly turned to other forms of energy such as renewable energy, fossil fuels as well as nuclear energy. Link To Oppo: Listening to the episode got me thinking of what would the energy sector look like in the future, especially since countries as focusing on reducing climate change. A new article in Think Progress has reported that Renewable Energy, such as solar and wind, are becoming more competitive than coal and natural gas as prices for batteries (for energy storage) and manufacturing parts drop. The article comes at a time when the President of the United States mocked wind energy at a recent rally. We all know that the President backs fossil fuel energy as many of the Republic Donors are from the industry. The point of this episode is to let you know that even though some people are repeating old rhetoric about Renewable Energy sources, it doesn't mean people aren't moving full steam ahead on making the energy market more efficient.
