There is a huge battle happening in Hawaii right now between the State Government and Native Hawaiians. The peaceful battle is over the construction of the largest telescope (large than the Hubble Space Telescope) on the most sacred land in Hawaii.

Marine Social Science plays a crucial role in Marine Conservation as it focuses on the trends of the people using the Ocean. Social science is playing more of a role in Marine Science and Conservation there days as we realized that the Ocean will manage itself if we are able to manage the use of the people who use the Oceans.
